Welcome to your first step to reaching your lifestyle goals. Just as a Doctor will prescribe a pill, an exercise physiologist will prescribe exercise at the right intensity, frequency, according to the health conditions needing to be addressed. Being treated by an exercise physiologist means that not only do they prescribe exercise, but they also look at the big picture, to help you in your journey back to where you want to be.

Sue Cutbill is accredited in Exercise Physiology and Sport Science and has over 11 years experience in the health and fitness industry.

An Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP) holds a four-year equivalent university degree and specialises in the exercise and movement for the prevention and management of chronic diseases and injuries. Some of the more common health conditions seen are:

    • movement problems in children
    • Lyme / Lyme like disease
    • obesity
    • cardiovascular disease
    • diabetes
    • Chronic lower back pain
    • osteoporosis and arthritis
    • mental health conditions
    • cancer and cancer treatment recovery
    • chronic pain and fatigue
    • post-surgical rehabilitation (ACL reconstruction, hip/knee replacement, shoulder surgery, bursitis)
    • neuromuscular exercise therapy (multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, Parkinson’s disease)
    • pulmonary disease
    • healthy ageing
    •  improved sporting performance

Are Exercise Physiologists the same as Physiotherapists?

The simple answer is no – we have very different roles – Physiotherapists and Accredited Exercise Physiologists are both allied health professionals, however Exercise Physiologist’s use exercise and physical activity for treatment and we  look at lifestyle and behaviour modification. Exercise Physiologists are experts in metabolic conditions and exercise rehabilitation. Their role is to prevent/manage chronic disease, injury and disability. A Physio will use joint mobilisation/manipulation and massage to treat injuries.

Being accredited as a Sport Scientist and Exercise Physiologist I will use my extensive skills and knowledge in exercise prescription, combined with my training in behaviour change, to empower clients and assist them to manage their health independently.   Skills of an AEP are also well received by clients who are looking to age well and age independently.

As an AEP I am a registered medicare and health fund provider. Please click link below for Health fund details.
